The storks (Ciconiidae) are a worldwide family with 17 species. Most species are found in the tropical or subtropical regions of the world. Storks are large, primarily wading, birds with long legs, bills, and necks. Many species have bare faces, and sometimes bare faces and necks. The species as a whole are not attractive. A single species occurs in North America.
