Birds of Eastern North America

The family Sylviidae includes the gnatcatchers and kinglets of North America. There are about 380 species worldwide and 6 species in North America, 3 in our region. The sylviids include some of the smallest birds in the world. They make their living gleaning insects and spiders from twigs, branches, and bark.
