A Field Guide to Eastern Birds. by Roger Tory Peterson.

Tropicbirds are tropical or subtropical oceanic birds. The birds bear a passing resemblance to terns with elongate tail feathers. They spend most of their lives flying over the ocean feeding on small fish and squid. There are 3 species in the world. Only a single species is found in eastern North America and only then as a rare stray to the coasts of the southeastern United States.
