Beringian Frittilary (Boloria natazhati [Gibson])

Wing span: 1 3/8 - 1 3/4 inches (3.5 - 4.4 cm).

Identification: Forewing apex pointed. Underside of wings have a greasy appearance with a bluish sheen. Pattern similar to freija, but most populations have wings blackish with long hairs basally. Underside with ocher background with a dull pattern but including a median dark zigzag line on hindwing.

Life history: Not reported.

Flight: One flight from Mid June to July.

Caterpillar hosts: Not reported.

Habitat: Rocky ridges, scree slopes and stony beaches.

Range: Victoria Island, Northwest Territories, and west through southern Yukon, northern British Columbia, and southeastern Alaksa.
