Identification: Upperside is brown with a wide, metallic green band across the forewing. Underside of hindwing is white with a red costal margin and a black-outlined "88."

Life history: Not reported.

Flight: March-December in Mexico.

Caterpillar hosts: Tropical plants in the elm and soapberry families.

Adult food: Rotting fruit and dung.

Habitat: Wet tropical forests.

Range: Costa Rica north to Mexico. A rare stray to South Texas.
