Disa Alpine (Erebia disa Thunberg)

Wing span: 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 inches (3.9 - 4.3 cm).

Identification: Fringe of forewing checkered. Underside of forewing dark brown with submarginal row of 4 to 5 black spots surrounded by a narrow band of yellow-orange. Hindwing witha dark brown postbasal band. Hindwing with a conspicuous small white dash extending from the center of the wing into its outer half.

Life history: Not reported.

Flight: One brood from late June to early July.

Caterpillar hosts: Not reported.

Habitat: Moist tundra.

Range: Holarctic. Restricted to northern Alaska, northern Yukon, and the northern Northwest Territories in North America.
