Four-dotted Alpine (Erebia youngi Holland)

Wing span: 1 7/16 - 1 5/8 inches (3.7 - 4.2 cm).

Identification: Underside of forewing with submarginal row of 3 or 4 tiny orange surrounded black dots parallled on both sides by sharply cut-off darker areas. hindwing with an irregular dark median band, lighter on both sides. Hindwing with scatted long thin brown or red-brown hairs.

Life history: Not reported.

Flight: One brood from late June to late July.

Caterpillar hosts: Not reported.

Habitat: Dry alpine or arctic tundra.

Range: Northern and eastern Alaska, western and northern Yukon.
