Sonoran Marble (Euchloe guaymasensis Opler)

Wing span: 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 inches (3.1 - 3.7 cm).

Identification: Upper surface pale yellow with a black bar in discal cell and black on forewing apex. Underside with green marbling sparse, areas between marbling not highly reflecting.

Life history: Unknown

Flight: One flight from February through March.

Caterpillar hosts: Tansy Mustard (Brassicaceae).

Habitat: Rocky desert hills and ridges in thorn scrub and oak-juniper zones.

Range: Mostly in Sonora, Mexico, but reported from once from southeastern Arizona.
