Amyntor Greenstreak (Cyanophrys amyntor [Cramer])

Wing span: 15/16 - 1 1/16 inches (2.4 - 2.8 cm).

Identification: Front of head green. Upperside of male iridescent blue, female dull blue, black outwardly. Underside of thre forewing forward two-thirds apple green lower one-third gray. Hindwing apple green with orange spot above tail and white dash above orange spot.

Life history: Not described.

Flight: July to January in Mexico.

Caterpillar hosts: Polyphagous including species in the Ulmaceae and Verbenaceae.

Habitat: Lowland tropical scrub.

Range: Lowland tropics from Mexico to Brazil. Known in the U.S. from a single specimen from the Big Bend region of western Texas.
