Clench's Greenstreak (Cyanophrys miserabilis [Clench])

Wing span: 7/8 - 1 1/8 inches (2.2 - 3 cm).

Identification: Hindwing with one tail. Face brown. Upperside steel blue. Underside yellow-green; hindwing outer margin with red-brown submarginal spots.

Life history: Not reported.

Flight: Two-three from April-December in South Texas; February-December in Central America.

Caterpillar hosts: Tree Parkinsonia aculeata in the pea family (Fabaceae).

Adult food: Flower nectar.

Habitat: Thorn scrub and seasonally dry subtropical woodland.

Range: Costa Rica north to northern Mexico and South Texas.
