Population Dynamics Models. Kim van der Linde. A wonderful site on population dynamics models. You are presented with a simple screen and a series of population models you can run including the logistic model, Lotka-Volterra competition and predator-prey models, and the Nicholson-Bailey model. Set values in the boxes, press run, and watch the results. Highly recommended.

Wildlife Population Dynamics. Gary C. White. A wonderful set of lectures on theoretical population dynamics in the form of a series of lectures in Adobe Acrobat (pdf) form. The lectures cover basic population growth, maximum sustained yield, stochastic models, predator-prey, herbivory, age dependent models, and spatially structured models to name but a few of the topics. Highly recommended.

Procedures for Evaluating Predation on Livestock and Wildlife. Dale A. Wade and James E. Browns. This web site is an online manual for identifying predators from the marks made on dead prey animals. The manual is primarily intended for ranchers, but would be generally useful to anyone needing to identify predators from the remains of their prey. Predators covered are coyotes, cougars, bears, eagles, some domestic animals, and others. Warning: Some of the pictures are not suitable for children.

Predation, Fish and Wildlife Population Ecology. E.O. Garton. A synoptic outline of the theoretical study of the predator-prey interaction. Predator-prey models are emphasized. Based on a wildlife course taught at the University of Idaho.

Fish and Wildlife Population Ecology. E.O. Garton. This web site is based on a wildlife population ecology course taught at the University of Idaho. The lectures are synoptic outlines of the lectures and cover such topics as population ecology, life tables and abundance estimation, population structure, the evolution of life history traits, competition, and predation. The emphasis is on the theoreticasl aspects of the science.

Monarch Biology. Monarch Watch. This great web site has information about the types of predation suffered by monarch butterflies from predators, parasitoids, and diseases.

Predation. A synoptic, but thorough and well presented introduction to the predator-prey interaction including discussion of both the theoretical side of the subject with the discussion of real examples. Besides the usual predator-prey models are sections on functional responses, and optimal foraging theory. Recommended.

Bird Predation and Insect Populations. Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center. An article on the predation of birds on insects written specifically for kids. Learn how birds affect insect populations and how the insects can fight back with defense mechanisms. You also be introduced to how birds maximize their efficiency by the tactics they use in looking for insects.

Red Fox Predation on Breeding Ducks. Alan B. Sargent et al. An online monograph of red fox predation on ducks. An excellent place to go to get real data on the effect of predation by one species or another. Recommended.

Wolves: A Bibliography and Guide to the Literature. Michael Knee. An very extensive bibliography of references on wolves.

Epidemiology and Population Dynamics of Host Parasite Interactions. James M. Smith. A nice introduction to both the theoretical and practical aspects of host parasite interactions using a parasitic worm and the red grouse as an example.
