Water Plantain (Alisma triviale)

Identification: Aquatic. Flowers small, white, borne is whorls of 4 or more on a highly branched stalk. Flowers with 3 petals. Leaves oval, pointed at the tip.

Distribution: Throughout most of North America except in the southeastern United States and Texas.

Habitat: Water Plantain is aquatic and found in the shallow water or mudbanks of swamps, ponds, lakes, and river margins.

Flowering period: June to September.
