Blue Cohosh (Caulophyllum thalictroides)

Identification: Flowers yellow-green to brown with 6 petals. Fruits dark blue berries. Leaves divided into 6 to 9 leaflets. Plant arises from a thick rhizome. Plant 1 to 3 feet in height.

Distribution: Throughout eastern North America (except Florida) and the plains states.

Habitat: Blue Cohosh is found in rich, moist woods.

Flowering period: April to June.
