Watercress (Rorippa nasturtium-aquaticum)

Alien: Native of Europe.

Identification: Aquatic. Flowers white, small, in small, terminal clusters. Seed pods short, curved, with a small apical beak. Leaves and stem succulent. Leaves divided into lobes, usually with an ovate apical lobe and 1 or 2 pairs of lateral lobes. Plant 4 to 10 inches in height.

Distribution: Throughout North America.

Habitat: Watercress is an aquatic plant found in running water such as small streams, and springs.

Flowering period: April to June.
