Low Cudweed (Gnaphalium uliginosum) Identification: Flowers insignificant, bowl-shaped, brown-white, without ray florets, arising from the upper leaf axils. Stem white and woolly. Leaves elongate, blunt at the apex, and white woolly. Upper leaves generally much fewer than the lower ones. Plant 0.35 to 1 foot in height. Distribution: Throughout Canada and southward to Pennsylvania, Maryland, and in the mountains to Virginia. Found also in the northern of the western United States. This species also occurs in northern Europe and Asia. Habitat: Low Cudweed is found in damp fields and ditches. Flowering period: July to October. |
