Trailing Arbutus (Epigaea repens)

Identification: Plant trailing along the ground. Flowers large, white or pink, tubular with 5 outspread petal lobes. Flowers arranged in small clusters. Stems woody, prostrate, and hairy. Leaves oval, hairy, leathery, and evergreen.

Distribution: Throughout eastern North America.

Habitat: Trailing Arbutus is found in a variety of forest types.

Flowering period: March to May.
