Four-O'-Clock (Mirabilis nyctaginea)

Identification: Flowers pink to purple, with 5 fused petals. Flowers nodding, sited either alone or in pairs from a five lobed cup consisting of floral bracts. Flowers arranged in small clusters at the top of the plant. Leaves heart-shaped with petioles with elongate apices. Plant 1 to 6 feet in height.

Distribution: Throughout most of North America except for the southeastern United States.

Habitat: Four-O'-Clock is found in prairies, fields, and roadsides.

Flowering period: June to October.
