Wandlike Bush Clover (Lespedeza intermedia)

Identification: A tall, usually erect, plant. Flowers pealike, pink to pink-purple. Flowers crowded close to the stem and arising from the leaf axils. Most flower clustered near the apex of the stem. Stem smooth. Leaves with 3 leaflets. Leaflets ovate-elongate, crowded close to the stem. Plant 1 to 3 feet in height.

Distribution: Throughout most of eastern North America.

Habitat: Wandlike Bush Clover is found in dry woods and forest clearings.

Flowering period: July to September.
