Crimson Clover (Trifolium incarnatum)

Alien: Native of Europe.

Identification: Flowers crimson red arranged in a elongate or conical flower head. Leaves and flowers branching from a common stem. Leaves divided into 3 leaflets, each leaflet round and blunt. Plant 6 to 30 inches in height.

Distribution: Local in distribution, but found throughout most of North America except for the Rocky Mountain region.

Habitat: Crimson Clover is a commonly planted ornamental that sometimes escapes to fields, roadsides, and empty lots.

Flowering period: May to July.
