Culver's Root (Veronicastrum virginicum ]L.] Farw.)

Identification: Plant tall and erect. Flowers white, tubular, with 2 protruding stamens. Flowers in elongate, closely packed, terminal spikes. Leaves in whorls of 3 to 7, elongate-ovate, with toothed outer margins, and short to absent petioles. Plant 4 to 10 feet in height.

Distribution: Throughout eastern North America.

Habitat: Culver's Root is found in wet meadows, thickets, and woods.

Flowering period: June to September.

Similar Species: Culver's Root is easily identified by the lower, white flower spikes and the whorls of leaves.
