Nearctica is a gateway to the plants, animals, and ecology of North America. This site is a combination of original material and links to other information located on the World Wide Web.

The ultimate goal of a web site like Nearctica is to provide a single source of information on every species of living organism in North America. Certainly this will not happen in my lifetime. But Nearctica, at least, is a start.
