Identification of the LBA's (Little Brown Acontiines)

 

Front of the head swollen, but without a prominent frontal process, at most a small nipple-like structure


Ponometia nannodes

Brown coloration of the forewing extensive; costa of the forewing without two prominent, square, dark brown blotches


Tarache apela

Brown coloration of the forewing less extensive; forewing with two prominent, square, dark brown blotches

Front of the head with a prominent, circular process; bottom of ring with a projecting, rectangular plate; top of ring circular and toothed


Tarache tenuicula

Frontal prominence present, strong consisting of two plates. The upper plate is square to rectangular; lower plate square, shorter than the upper plate.


Tarache sutor

Upper plate of prominence not elongate, rectangular and margin toothed. Costa with a dark brown marking at the position of the antemedial line. Dark forewing fringe interrupted by light yellow brown twice. Inner, lower margin of postmedial line not heavily accented with black.


Ponometia sutrix

Upper plate of prominence elongate, rectangular and margin without teeth. Costa without a dark brown marking at the position of the antemedial line. Brown forewing fringe interrupted only once by light yellow-brown. Inner, lower margin of postmedial line heavily accented with black.
