The phylum Mollusca is divided into six extant classes. Three of these classes have separate pages devoted to them, while the three smaller classes are dealt with below. This page also contains the sites with information crossing class boundaries. The six classes are:

AMPHINEURA - Chitons

MONOPLACOPHORA - Monoplacophorans (no sites found)

GASTROPODA - Snails, conchs, slugs, nudibranchs, and most marine shells

BIVALVIA (PELYCOPODA) - Clams, oysters, and other bivalve mollusks

SCAPHOPODA - Tusk shells

CEPHALOPODA - Squid, Octopi

Marine Resources Center. Marine Biological Laboratory at Woods Hole. This site contains figures and bibliographies of the marine mollusks found in the Woods Hole, Masssachusetts region of the New England coast.

Marine Biology Database. California Polytechnic Institute. Photographs of and information about West Coast marine mollusks.

Mollusks. An elementary introduction to the Mollusks.

The Assateague Naturalist. A guide to the seashells and other things found on Assateague Beach, Virginia. This site contains basic information and photographs.

British Columbia Creature Page. Kerry West. A gallery of photographs found in coastal British Columbia. Particularly strong on nudibranchs.

Aquatic Mollusks of North Dakota. National Biological Service. Photographs and distribution maps of aquatic mollusks from North Dakota.

Conch-net. Conchologists of America. This site contains general information and some photographs of marine, freshwater, and terrestrial Mollusks. The information is somewhat eclectic.

Guido T. Poppe Conchology. This site has a wealth of photographs and information for the world wide shell collector.

Eddie's Shell Catalogue. An illustrated catalog of one person's collection of world wide shells. This site is still in construction. Some North American species are illustrated.

World Wide Specimen Shells. This is a commercial site for the sale of world wide shells, but it has many nice photographs. Primarily not North American.

AMPHINEURA

Marine Resources Center. Marine Biological Laboratory at Woods Hole. This is a general Mollusca site that also contains information and photographs of chitons from the New England sea coast.

SCAPHAPODA

The Scaphopod Page. Patrick Reynolds. This site contains information about and photographs of the scaphopods of the world. A bibliography is also included.
