LAMIACEAE (MINTS)
The
Mints of Texas. University of Texas at Austin. This site covers the
mint family in Texas and has an introduction to the family, photographs
and distribution maps for many of the genera and species, and keys to
many of the genera.

Anal Paton. You can find a generic classification of the mint family here
along with a short introduction to the family.
LEMNACEAE (DUCKWEED)
Lemnaceae.
Wayne Armstrong. This great site has general and specific information
on the Lemnaceae in North America. It contains a general introduction,
a key to genera, a list of all North American species with information,
photographs of many species, and control measures for duckweed blooms
in ponds, lakes, and reservoirs.
The Charms
of Duckweed. J.W. Cross. Duckweeds belong to the plant family Lemnaceae
and are smallest known flowering plants. You usually see them as little
green specks floating on ponds and marshes. This great web site has a
wealth on information on duckweeds from a photo gallery of the different
genera, interesting facts about duckweeds, experiments and projects you
can use them in, and more. Recommended.
LORANTHACEAE (MISTLETOES)
The Mistletoe
Center. Forest Serive, Rocky Mountain Research Station. This site
has an annotated bibliography and links to other mistletoe sites. You
can also order a free copy of a book on Dwarf Mistletoe.
Forest
Practices Code. This site is primarily about the control of dwarf
mistletoe, but it also has general information about the biology, ecology,
and distribution of the British Columbia species of Arceuthobium.
LYTHRACEAE (LOOSESTRIFES)
The
Flowering Plant Family Lythranceae of North America. Shirley Graham.
This site is an extensive introduction to the loosestrifes of North America
covering morphology, biology, and genera. For each genus there are photographs
and information.
LEGUMINOSAE (LEGUMES)
The Amazing
Story of Kudzu. University of Alabama Center for Public Television
and Radio. A remarkable site about this hideous exotic weed of the southeastern
and east-central United States. You can find information about the history
of kudzu in the U.S., attempts to control it, possible uses for it, and
links to other kudzu sites.

of Wisconsin. Jeffrey Hapeman. This great site covers the orchids
of Wisconsin. You may enter either through a list of genera or by a key
to species. Each species is represented by a photograph and extensive
information.

Curtis Clark. This great site deals with the California Poppies of the
genus Eschscholzia and related genera. It has photographs and information
on each species, a key to species, and distribution maps. You can also
find information on where to travel to see poppies in California and tips
on growing them.

Penstemon
Website. Andrea Wolfe. Although this site is aimed at horticulturalists,
it has a great deal of information on the beard tongues (Penstemon),
a largely North American genus with wonderful flowers. You will find information
on systematics and photographs of each species with a bit of information.
UTRICULARIACEAE
Utricularia
and Genlisea. A site on the species of Utricularia (a carnivorous
plant) and Genlisea with photographs.
VIOLACEAE
Violets
in America. The American Violet Society. Among other things, the American
Violet Society has a constructed a large gallery of wild species of violets
found in North America.
