America. Nearctica.com. A guide to nearly 1,200 species of eastern
wildflowers including photographs, drawings, field characters, habitats,
and distributions.

A huge collection of botanical photographs grouped into such topics as
general botany, dendrology (trees), fungi, and the vegetation of Wisconsin.
Plants National
Database. USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. This is an
ambitious project to provide a single source of standardized information
about plants. Presently the site is still in its early stages and the
information is spotty and somewhat cryptic. However there is a large gallery
of plant pictures arranged by group and by habitat.

Catalog of Botanical
Illustrations. Department of Botany, Smithsonian Institution. This
site has a database of more than 500 botanical illustrations of the families
Bromeliaceae, Cactaceae, and Melastomaceae. Only some species are North
American. Each illustration has the artists name and the publication it
occurred in.

Pages. Leilah Thiel. A large collection of photographs of trees and
shrubs, mostly eastern and midwestern species.

plants, primarily from western North America.
Wildflowers
of Alabama. Caroline Dean. A gallery of photographs of wild flowers
found in Alabama. For many species there are also descritive notes along

Berkeley Digital Library Project. This site is an extensive searchable
database of photographs of vascular plants of California. Clicking on
the species name generates information for each species and further photographs.

Almaden Research Center (IBM). This site has photographs of the wildflowers
found on the grounds of the Almaden Research Center in the San Francisco
Bay region of California.
Floristic
Biodiversity. Michael Simpson, San Diego State University. A great
site with galleries of photographs of the plants occurring in the following
habitats in Southern California; chaparral, desert, vernal pools, estuaries,
coastal dunes, and marshes.

of the species are from northern California, but there are some from other

Hildebrand. A very nice collection of wildflower pictures from Coe State
Park in California. You can look for a specific plant species by either
flower color, common name, or scientific name.

Anza-Borrego State Park and elsewhere in the deserts of Southern California.

site with photographs and information on over 400 species of wildflowers
from New England. You can pick species from either a list of common and
scientific names, or by choosing from species arranged by color. Highly
recommended.

from the District of Columbia and Maryland as well as a searchable checklist
